Fund Drive season is upon us once again, and we are asking that you continue with the generous financial support that you have given to the Squad in the past. Last year, we reported that we planned to purchase a new 4x4 ambulance with the contributions from our annual fund drive. However, with the increase in fuel and maintenance cost on our ambulances, we were unable to do so. The Elkton Emergency Squad is one of the busiest rescue squads in Rockingham County answering over 2100 calls in 2007. It is imperative that we reach our goal of raising $50,000 this year so that we can continue to offer the highest level of care, FREE OF CHARGE, to the residents of first due area.
The Elkton Emergency Squad is still planning on purchasing a new ambulance to replace our aging and cost prohibiting4x4 Advance Life Support unit. The cost of this new unit will be in the neighborhood of $155,000. Our current 4-wheel drive unit has over 166,000 miles on it and is currently experiencing electrical issues rendering this unit out of service 3 to 4 times per month. With the mountainous terrain and miles of secondary roads in our service area, it is extremely important that we have a 4-wheel drive that is dependable.
Donations let the Squad provide emergency medical services to our community, but without volunteers, the Squad could not operate. We need you help in answering calls in our community. No experience is necessary, as the Squad will provide you with all the training that you need. All you have to do to start is have a clean criminal record and the desire to help people who are in need.
As you can see, there are several ways to contribute to your local Rescue Squad. Simply send in your donation or inquire about volunteering your time. You will be helping a great organization become even greater. PLEASE, HELP US HELP YOU, and make your contribution today.
Thank you,
